Relief for Gullit as Feyenoord advance

Group A reaction: Ruud Gullit was "relieved" while FC Basel 1893 coach Christian Gross also had cause to smile.

Feyenoord coach Ruud Gullit declared himself a "very relieved" man after his side came from behind to beat FC Schalke 04 2-1 and join their opponents in the last 32. FC Basel 1893, meanwhile, climbed into third place with a 2-1 success at Ferencvárosi TC which coach Christian Gross described "one of the biggest wins in the history of our club".

I'm very relieved and very happy with this victory. After the opening goal from Schalke I knew I had to change something in our tactics so I decided to bring on [Shinji] Ono instead of [Patrick] Mtiliga and from that moment on our play became much better. Ono played very well I think, as well as Salomon Kalou. But they can only play this way because of the good work from the players around them, like Hossam Ghaly, Dirk Kuijt and Pascal Bosschaart. It is very good for the club that we are already in the next round. Feyenoord coach Ruud Gullit

I think I can blame the team for their arrogant approach. We had at least five opportunities to score but only scored once. At this level it is very unusual to get so many possibilities. And as we gave a helping hand to Feyenoord, with poor passes and sloppy defending, we can only blame ourselves that we didn't get a better result. Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick

I saw two different halves. In the first we scored a goal and could have had two or three more. After the break we didn't create enough chances to win and made mistakes that I couldn't understand. Ferencváros coach Csaba László

That was one of the biggest wins in the history of our club. Except for a few minutes in the first half we dictated the match. At half-time, I told my players that they would certainly win if they managed to equalise. I don't think that it's an advantage for us that we host Feyenoord, who have already qualified, in the last game. We need to produce another great performance. Basel coach Christian Gross.
