Dinamo Zagreb experienced more off-field uncertainty when director of sport Otto Baric resigned on Sunday but it did not stop Ilija Loncarevic celebrating his first win as coach, his new charges beating NK Inter Zaprešic 2-0 to remove the visitors from top spot in the Croatian First League. Loncarevic made a number of changes to the team that lost 2-0 against SL Benfica on Thursday, dropping Ivan Bošnjak and captain Niko Kranjcar and giving Hrvoje Štrok and Mario Lucic rare starts. Stand-in captain Ante Tomic and in-form Eduardo Da Silva scored the goals.

Heerenveen
SC Heerenveen welcomed back defender Said Bakkati to the starting eleven before they scored two late goals to rescue a point at home to Feyenoord. Substitute Georgios Samaras and Ugur Yildirim both registered from set-pieces in the final 16 minutes. Finnish international Mika Väyrynen is still out with a hamstring injury, as is Arnold Bruggink, while defender Hannu Haarala has damaged his ankle.

Benfica
Benfica's inconsistent form continued as they were defeated 1-0 at UD Leiria, a result that sees them drop to third in the Portuguese First Division. Panagiotis Fyssas, Argel, Paulo Almeida and Bruno Aguiar all returned as Manuel Dos Santos, Luisão and Azar Karadas were all rested. Petit sat the game out with a groin problem and is doubtful for the trip to KSK Beveren on Thursday. Miguel has had knee surgery and joins long-term casualties Carlitos, Nuno Gomes and Mantorras on the sidelines.

Beveren
Constant Kipre has made an earlier-than-expected return to training after tearing a calf muscle. But the striker is still not match fit and without him, Beveren lost 2-0 at home to third-placed RAA Louviéroise. Abdoulaye Djiré was also absent, through suspension, while Abdoulaye Diawara will be out for about three months with a broken ankle and torn ligaments.

Stuttgart
VfB Stuttgart rose to third place in the Bundesliga despite being held to a goalless draw at Hannover 96. Horst Heldt and Fernando Meira were missing with their respective ankle and hamstring injuries, but Andreas Hinkel ensured there was some good news for coach Matthias Sammer when he returned to the starting lineup after three weeks out with hamstring trouble. Stuttgart sit out Matchday 4 ahead of the visit of Dinamo Zagreb on 15 December.
