The 24-year-old Argentinian international suffered the tear to his right thigh and is expected to be sidelined for up to 12 weeks. Battaglia will therefore be unavailable for Villarreal's remaining UEFA Cup Group E matches, away to FK Partizan on 2 December and at home to Egaleo FC 13 days later.
