The 23-year-old Croatian tore a ligament in his left knee in Sunday's 1-0 defeat at FC Schaffhausen and further examinations will determine if Petric needs surgery. However, he seems likely to miss the remaining Group A fixtures against Heart of Midlothian FC, Ferencvárosi TC and Feyenoord.
Chipperfield returns
Midfielder Scott Chipperfield suffered mild concussion in the same game, but could return to action in Australia's friendly international against Norway in London on Wednesday, having travelled to England today.
