It was a deserved win in a match where our supremacy was crystal clear for everyone to see. Panionios just defended and their attitude had a detrimental effect on the spectacle - it's impossible to give a good performance against a team who even at 4-1 down never stop defending. It's fundamental that we qualify for the next stage and after this win we're in a better position to do so. Sporting coach José Peseiro
We were ready and we knew that Sporting would seize on our every mistake, something which happened when we conceded the first goal. We could have levelled the scores and played well until the 70th minute when stamina played a part. Our substitutes didn't have the influence I thought they would. We still have a lot of work to do. Panionios coach Georgios Vazakas
We were very adventurous, but we can, and should have scored more goals than just the two and we're really a wee bit disappointed we didn't score more. We had many chances and the only thing missing was our finishing. They had to defend very well at times to stay in the game. Our attitude was spot-on - we asked the players to make sure that they gave Tbilisi respect and they did that. Newcastle manager Graeme Souness
It is our first time in European football and on this stage young footballers have to show that they are capable of competing at this level. Unfortunately, I can't say that my players were good enough. Dinamo coach Georgy Geguchadze
