Van der Heyden heeds Wolfsburg call

Commitment until 2008
The 28-year-old Belgian international, capped 13 times, will move to the Bundesliga side on a free transfer at the end of the season. Van der Heyden will sign a three-year contract to play under compatriot Erik Gerets, with the Wolfsburg coach full of praise for his new acquisition.

'Outstanding footballer'
"I know the player very well," said Gerets. "He will be a good reinforcement especially because of his attitude. He is an outstanding footballer and I am happy about this move." Van der Heyden will not be in action for Club Brugge tonight as the team are sitting out Matchday 2 of the UEFA Cup group stage. They began their campaign with a 3-2 defeat at FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
