Utrecht get tough on fans

Goalkeeper hit
The Dutch Cup holders were fined €9,700 by UEFA after the Swedish club's goalkeeper Pa Dembo Tourray was hit by a coin thrown from a section holding Utrecht supporters during the first-round second-leg match on 30 September.

Fans' contracts
For the Group C visit to Real Zaragoza next Thursday and the trip to Club Brugge KV on 25 November, fans buying tickets must now sign a contract promising their good behaviour. The contract includes a guarantee to pay for any damages caused and says that any fan misbehaving will be banned from future away matches, at home and abroad.

Making a statement
Utrecht chairman Martin Sturkenboom said: "After the Sweden incident we spoke with the police and the supporters' association. We want to make a statement with this, we are now determined to show that our fans can behave well, away from home as well at home."

Co-operation needed
Supporters are obliged to produce a copy of their passports when signing the contracts, ensuring the club have a record of their details. "Incidents like in Sweden really have to be avoided in the future and for that we also need the co-operation of UEFA and the local authorities," added Sturkenboom.

Home games
For the home matches against FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and FK Austria Wien, the club and the supporters' association will organise an entertainment programme in the Galgenwaard stadium to keep fans away from the city centre.

Previous incident
The incident in Sweden was not the first involving Utrecht in Europe. After a fan invaded the pitch during a UEFA Cup first-round tie against Legia Warszawa in 2002, the club had to play their next European tie behind closed doors against MŠK Zilina in September last year.
