PAOK find Fringer solution

PAOK FC have unveiled Austrian Rolf Fringer as their coach for the remainder of the season.

'Work hard'
The Greek UEFA Cup contenders had announced Fringer's appointment as successor to the sacked Angelos Anastasiadis late yesterday, and the new man told a press conference today: "I know this kind of change is a risk once the season has started, but we will do everything we can to ensure good performances from the team. We will work hard and try to lift the players ahead of our game against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday."

Playing catch-up
PAOK, whose 2-0 defeat by Panionios NFC on Sunday prompted the coaching change, trail Dutch side Alkmaar 3-2 from the first round first-leg tie a fortnight ago. Fringer will be assisted by Georgios Kostikos, who has resigned as Greece's Under-19 coach to take up the position. Kostikos will be replaced in the international set-up by Alexis Alexiou.
