The 23-year-old, who made 45 appearances over four seasons with Atlético, has been on trial with the Belgian UEFA Cup hopefuls since last Wednesday and said he has joined Standard to help them "become champions".
Enakarhire departure
Michel is the Belgian club's second signing in a week following the return of fellow Brazilian Wamberto from RAEC Mons. He will strengthen a defence weakened by the loss of Nigerian international Joseph Enakarhire to Sporting Clube de Portugal. Standard, third in the First Division last term, kick off their UEFA Cup campaign in the first round.
