The Greek club have signed the 22-year-old central defender Bruno Alves and the 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder Paulo Assunção. AEK were in need of reinforcements having lost several players in recent weeks including Greek internationals Mihalis Kapsis and Theodoros Zagorakis, although others have joined such as Brazilian striker Alexandre Soares.

Bruno Alves, who was on loan at Vitória SC last season, will have the chance to impress AEK fans during the forthcoming Olympic Games, as he is in Portugal's 18-man squad. Paulo Assunção penned a four-year contract with Porto last month after an impressive spell with CD Nacional.
