Basto on board at Feyenoord

Feyenoord have signed left-back Bruno Basto from FC Girondins de Bordeaux on a two-year contract with the option for a further season.

UEFA Cup trip
Basto will be eligible to play for Feyenoord from the home game against FC Twente on 12 September, and the UEFA Cup first round first-leg trip to Odd Grenland of Norway four days later. Feyenoord technical manager Mark Wotte said: "We are very glad to have signed a defender of Basto's calibre. He comes from a big French side and is a re-enforcement for us."

Fourth club
The 26-year-old from Lisbon began his career with Alverca Futebol SAD before a 1997 switch to SL Benfica. He moved to Bordeaux in 2000 and has been virtually ever-present for them in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Cup up to this season.
