FC Girondins de Bordeaux coach Michel Pavon has agreed a two-year contract extension after leading the French side into the UEFA Cup quarter-finals.
UEFA Cup run
Pavón took over from Elie Baup ten games into this season on 24 October, and has taken Bordeaux from 16th place to eleventh position. A 1-0 win at Club Brugge KV on Thursday gave Bordeaux a 4-1 aggregate win and a UEFA Cup last eight tie against Valencia CF on 8 and 14 April.
'Man for the future'
"Michel is the man for the future," club chairman Jean-Louis Triaud said today as Pavon was signed to the club until summer 2006. Pavon, a former Bordeaux player in his first coaching role, added: "I am happy to carry on with this adventure. I am both satisfied to be the coach of a club I cherish and in an area my family enjoy."
