FC Girondins de Bordeaux goalkeeper Ulrich Ramé refused to get carried away after his side recorded a 3-1 win against Club Brugge KV in the UEFA Cup fourth round first leg at the Chaban-Delmas on Thursday.
Celades contribution
Two goals from Albert Celades and another from his compatriot Albert Riera turned the match in the French side's favour after Gert Verheyen had given Brugge the lead.
Long way to go
But French international Ramé believes it will still take a great performance by the Ligue 1 side to reach the next round. "We have to be careful because there are still 90 minutes to play," said the Bordeaux goalkeeper.
Slender advantage
"It is bad we let in a goal, though we had a very good reaction," Ramé added. "But three goals are not too much [of an advantage] because their stadium is a very passionate atmosphere, and it will be difficult for Bordeaux there."
'Better all the time'
However, the Bordeaux No1 believes his side are capable of capitalising on their first-leg lead, saying: "Now our team is getting better each game, we're learning and playing well. Every player wants to win something this season."
'Ready to suffer'
Bordeaux coach Michel Pavon echoed Ramé's words about the task that remains in the second leg, saying: "Now, we are ready to suffer in the wonderful Jan Breydelstadion as Brugge did here tonight.
Tricky task
"It will be very difficult for Bordeaux and it will be, I am sure, a very beautiful European football match as everybody likes," the Bordeaux coach continued. "I am proud of my boys but we know we have only done part of the job tonight."
Cautious optimism
Brugge coach Trond Sollied echoed the views of the Bordeaux players and coach, admitting that the two-goal margin had left his side a lot to do in the return match in Belgum. Nevertheless, the Norwegian refused to give up hope that his side could turn the game around, especially with an away goal to build on.
'Our own fault'
"At half-time, I thought one chance would be enough," the Brugge coach said. "We scored but the scenario from then on was not good for us as we lost three goals, and that was our own fault. I can't accept that. But everything is possible at home."
