Article body
AJ Auxerre have lost Finland midfield player Teemu Tainio for up to two months with an ankle injury.
Operation needed
The 24-year-old has been suffering discomfort during matches for several weeks and, following tests earlier this week, ligament damage has now been diagnosed. Tainio will undergo surgery in the coming days, possibly tomorrow, and is not expected to return for at least six to eight weeks.
Injury worries
He will miss his side's UEFA Cup fourth-round second leg against PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands. The French club, who have already lost Philippe Mexes and Johan Radet for the return, earned a 1-1 draw in the first match, with Tainio scoring for Auxerre.
