Bastia lose Batlles to Marseille

Olympique de Marseille have signed SC Bastia's creative midfield player Laurent Batlles.

Experienced player
The 28-year-old made his debut for Toulouse FC in the 1993/94 season. He spent six campaigns with the southern club and subsequently played for FC Girondins de Bordeaux and Stade Rennais FC. Batlles initially joined Bastia on loan last term before making the deal permanent and has played 19 Ligue 1 games this season.

'Talent and experience'
Marseille coach José Anigo said of his acquisition: "Laurent is very talented and experienced. He can play on the wings or behind the forwards and is one of the best passers in the league."

Quick deal
Batlles was delighted, saying: "Marseille are the biggest club in France. I'm very pleased to join them but I must thank my team-mates and staff at Bastia; without them, I'd never be here. As Bastia needed the money the transfer happened very quickly."

Ogbeche arrives
Meanwhile, Bastia, who last week loaned defender Demetrius Ferreira to Marseille, have signed Paris Saint-Germain FC's Nigerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche on loan for the rest of the campaign. The 19-year-old played at the 2002 FIFA World Cup but has not been a regular at the Parc des Princes this season.
