Facchetti steps up at Inter

Giacinto Facchetti has been confirmed as the new president of FC Internazionale, the Serie A side confirmed today.

Moratti resignation
Facchetti, previously Inter's vice-president and a former Italian international, replaces Massimo Moratti, who resigned on 20 January. Moratti, who had been Inter president since 1995, nominated Facchetti as his replacement. The new president said his priority was to focus on the club's coaching set-up as the team bid to close the gap on the leading group in Serie A.

'Prepare to win'
"It's not enough to want to win, you have to know how to prepare yourself in order to win," Fachhetti told the club's official website. "For this reason, the work from Monday to Saturday is important, not just Sunday." Inter currently lie in fourth place in the Italian top flight and face FC Sochaux Montbéliard in the UEFA Cup third round.
