Article body
Czech international René Bolf has agreed to join AJ Auxerre at the end of the season as a replacement for the Rangers FC-bound Jean-Alain Boumsong.
Move abroad
The 29-year-old central defender is currently playing for FC Baník Ostrava in his homeland and, having passed a medical, agreed to move to the French club. No contract details were released.
'Experienced and straightforward'
"Bolf is a very experienced central defender," said Auxerre coach Guy Roux. "We spent a day together. He is a very straightforward man and has overpowered players such as [FC Barcelona's] Patrick Kluivert and [Manchester United FC's] Ruud van Nistlerooij."
International ever-present
Bolf appeared in all eight of his country's Group 3 games as Karel Brückner's side finished above the Netherlands to clinch a place in the finals of UEFA UEFA 2004™. At Auxerre, he will take the place of French international Boumsong, who signed a pre-contract agreement in December to join Scottish champions Rangers.
