Bad break for Kirkland

Liverpool FC will miss goalkeeper Chris Kirkland for up to a month after he fractured a finger.

Liverpool FC could be without goalkeeper Chris Kirkland for up to a month after he fractured a finger.

Hurt in victory
The 22-year-old has been plagued by injuries since joining the Premiership club in August 2001. He was hurt during yesterday's 3-1 win against Bolton Wanderers FC and an x-ray after the game revealed the extent of the injury.

Injury problems
"Chris could well be out for between three and four weeks," said Liverpool manager Gérard Houllier. Kirkland missed much of the 2002/03 season with a knee injury and had only just forced his way back into the team after a groin problem at the start of the current campaign.

Dudek chance
Kirkland moved to Anfield from Coventry City FC in a €10m deal in August 2001. The English Under-21 international's place in the Liverpool team for Sunday's trip to Manchester City FC will go to Poland No1 Jerzy Dudek. Liverpool will play PFC Levski Sofia in the UEFA Cup third round, with the Bulgarian team travelling to England for the first leg on 26 February.
