Contract extension
The Portuguese international right-back has agreed the three-year contract extension on a higher salary after excellent performances for club and country this season. Benfica coach José Antonio Camacho said of the 23-year-old: "Miguel has been improving since he arrived here and it is very good news for the club. This will strengthen the squad for the coming seasons."
Strong position
Benfica are currently third in the SuperLiga and lead Molde FK 3-1 from the first leg of their UEFA Cup second-round tie, with the return taking place in Norway next Thursday.
