Article body
FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have agreed a deal with their Egyptian partner club Al-Ahly that will see young striker Ahmed Farag move to the Ligue 1 side.
Delayed transfer
The 18-year-old forward signed a contract on Monday and will officially join Sochaux in the January transfer window. The Egyptian Under-20 international began training with the club's reserve side this week with a view to graduating to the first-team squad in the near future.
European ineligibility
The transfer is the first since Sochaux agreed to link up with Al-Ahly several weeks ago, and will see Farag become the second Egyptian to play in France, following in the footsteps of Olympique de Marseille striker Ahmed Hossam 'Mido'. Although ineligible for Sochaux's UEFA Cup second-round tie with BV Borussia Dortmund next month, he would be able to play in the later stages of the competition should Sochaux progress.
