Assault under provocation
The 22-year-old Senegalese international pleaded guilty to assault under provocation when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff's Court yesterday. The incident happened during Liverpool's quarter-final first leg at Celtic Park in March. Diouf overran an attempt to reach the ball and landed in a seated area full of Celtic fans.
UEFA ban
The fan, Dominic Schiavone, patted him on the head and Diouf turned to him and spat. Diouf made a public apology after the incident and was banned for two European games. Celtic overcame Liverpool in the tie on their way to the final against FC Porto.
