The 25-year-old full back, a €1.4m buy from Millwall FC in 2001, has signed up for another four seasons. Blackburn manager Graeme Souness said: "Lucas has been excellent since the day he arrived. He has established himself as a top Premiership defender and I am delighted he has signed this contract."
'Experienced addition'
Meanwhile, Northern Irish international winger Keith Gillespie has penned a two-year deal with promoted Leicester City FC. The 28-year-old was a free agent after his Blackburn contract expired last month. Leicester manager Micky Adams said: "He is an experienced Premiership and international player and will fit into the way we want to play this season."
