Article body
FC PAOK Thessaloniki have signed Greek international Leonidas Vokolos on a free transfer from Panathinaikos FC.
'A very big team'
The 33-year-old central defender has signed a two-year contract with his new club. "PAOK are a very big team and I am glad that I will continue my career in Thessaloniki," Vokolos said. "My high esteem for the head coach Angelos Anastassiadis played a major part in my decision."
Previous acquaintance
Vokolos previously played under Anastassiadis at Panathinaikos in 2000/01, and has been signed to replace Kofi Amponsah, who recently rejected a contract extension. Vokolos, who has won six caps for Greece, made just five appearances for Panthinaikos last season.
UEFA Cup spot
PAOK finished in fourth position in the Alpha Ethniki in 2002/03 and claimed a place in the first round of next season's UEFA Cup by winning the Hellenic Cup.
