Rukavina leads Hajduk recruits

Croatian league runners-up HNK Hajduk Split have strengthened their squad with three new signings.

Back home
Hajduk, who will play in the UEFA Cup qualifying round next month, have landed Croatian international midfield player Tomislav Rukavina, 29, on a two-year contract from Italian Serie B side AC Venezia. Rukavina, a product of Hajduk's youth academy though he never played for the first team, said: "I didn't play a lot last season with Venezia, but I believe I can do a job for Hajduk."

New recruits
Rukavina will be joined in Split by NK Zagreb midfield player France Cacic, 23, who has arrived on a three-year contract. Meanwhile, Bosnia-Herzegovnian international Dragan Blatnjak, 21, became the third addition when the NK Zadar striker agreed a three-year deal. Hajduk, who also won the 2003 Croatian Cup, will take on Finnish side FC Haka for a place in the UEFA Cup first round.
