Elmander on target
Opening goal
It was Djurgarden who struck the opening goal after 13 minutes. The hosts won a corner on the left and from Samuel Wowoah's superb delivery, Johan Elmander rose high to head home past Rune Pedersen.
Physical encounter
The match then developed into a very physical encounter with both sides failing to create any clear-cut chances before a second goal arrived at the end of the first half when Kim Källström crossed for Elmander to head his second goal of the night.
No answer
The Swedish hosts were content thereafter to defend deep and København lacked the guile, determination and imagination to open up the Swedish defence.
Dramatic finish
But with two minutes left on the clock, Bora Zivkovic put some excitement back in the tie, making no mistake from Thomas Antonelius's brilliant through-ball to score and give København hope of a late fightback.
Late penalty
However, normal service was quickly resumed as Källström converted a penalty in the dying seconds after Antonelius had brought down Andreas Johansson inside the box for a 3-1 victory.
