Ferencvárosi TC 4-0 Kocaelispor Attila Tököli strikes twice as the home side cruise to victory.

Ferencvárosi TC 4-0 Kocaelispor
Hungarian national team coach Imre Gellei will take heart from the performances of several of his international selection as Ferencvárosi TC coasted to a 4-0 home success against Kocaelispor in the first leg of their UEFA Cup first round tie.

Confident start
Attila Tököli scored the first goal in the tenth minute after he latched onto international team-mate Zoltán Gera's fine pass. The home side doubled their lead on the half hour through captain Péter Lipscei following an impressive quick counter attack.

Sarman departs
But any chance Kocaelispor had of stemming the Ferencváros tide effectively ended four minutes later when their influential defender Faruk Sarman departed the field injured. The Turkish side battled during the opening 15 minutes of the second period, with their best chance of the match coming in the 57th minute, but Ferencváros goalkeeper Lajos Szücs was able to divert Volkan Arslan's 30-metre shot to safety.

Late goals
Four of the Hungarian side's international players then combined to add two goals in the final 15 minutes. Firstly, Attila Dragóner scored from Lipscei's corner, and then in the last minute, Tököli made no mistake when he beat Ahmet Sahin in the Kocaelispor goal after Gera initially won possession inside the Turkish half.

Key third goal
"Although we scored from the opportunities we created, it was a difficult game for us after the interval," admitted Ferencváros coach József Garami. "We were sure there would be more goals in the second half, but I wasn't so confident that we would get the crucial third goal. Eventually we did, and that made the match easier for us, but I still expect a difficult match in Turkey in a fortnight."
