Ivan Jovanovic was today named as the new coach of Hellenic National League team Iraklis FC after stepping up from his role as coach of the youth team.
Major promotion
The 40-year-old Jovanovic, who spent a successful 12-year spell with the club as an attacking midfield player, was delighted to make such a dramatic return to the Kaftantzoglio stadium. "I am deeply honoured to be appointed head coach of Iraklis - the team where I spent the greatest moments of my career as a player," he said.
'Try my best'
"I will try my best to live up to the expectations of the administration. This is the crown of my coaching career, although being the coach of Iraklis is also a huge responsibility. My goal is to achieve a top-four finish and secure a place in a UEFA competition."
Veteran returns
The president of Iraklis, Vangelis Mitilineos, also decided that the new general manager of the team will be another former player, Lakis Papaioannou. Iraklis will compete in the coming season's UEFA Cup.
