'Remarkable progress'
A year after being diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening brain disease, Celtic coach Martin O'Neill played the midfielder in the 8-0 win over the third division side on Tuesday. "He's been doing very well and his progress is remarkable. That sort of illness puts football into perspective," O'Neill said before the game.
'Great determination'
The Danish midfielder was struck down by Guillain-Barre Syndrome last October and spent eleven days on a respirator. O'Neill said: "He has shown great determination to try and come back. In terms of being patient, I'm not sure that young men who are good athletes and struck down with something like that, if you can get over it, are the most patient of people. I think it's really amazing for him to be considered at first-team level again. It's exactly what he's looking for - to be back as a first-team player and to have rightful ownership of a first-team place."
Maloney hits four
With Henrik Larsson and Chris Sutton rested, teenage striker Shaun Maloney made the most of his rare start at Celtic Park stadium. He scored four goals, while strike partner John Hartson got two.
