On his first ever final tournament appearance Giorgos Tzavellas formed part of the resilient Greece defence which kept a clean sheet against Russia in their final Group A game to reach the quarter-finals. Giorgos Karagounis's strike just before half-time set up a last-eight meeting with Germany in Gdansk on Thursday and the 24-year-old defender sat down with UEFA.com to answer your tweets and have his say on the 2004 triumph, the strength of Joachim Löw's men and how far Greece can go.
@AxelTorres: Where did you watch the final of 2004? How do you remember it? Who was your favourite player of that team?
Giorgos Tzavellas: I can't say who my favourite player was because it will be unfair to the rest of them. I was very young that year and, like everyone else, I watched the matches in cafeterias and at home. I remember celebrating in the streets. They were great moments and I am very glad to participate in this tournament now.
@Real1968V: Do you think your central defenders at this tournament are better than the ones of 2004?
Tzavellas: There is no need to make any comparisons. We are moving forward. At the moment we have two defensive players in the centre who play for great teams abroad. They are great footballers and we are glad to have them in our team.
@RealAkashJha: What motivated the Greece players against Russia?
Tzavellas: We were motivated to play for our country, above all. For the difficult situation that people currently face. We needed to give them a lot of happiness. We played for our country, for ourselves, for everything.
@FutboldelEgeo: Who is Germany's most dangerous player?
Tzavellas: Well, this is not a team that revolves around one unique player and all the others follow him, like it is with Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo. There are 11 players on the pitch and each of them contributes to the team as a whole. This is their strength and what makes them difficult to face so we need to be careful of all of them.
@GorkaCH94: How far can Greece go?
Tzavellas: We can go all the way. We have done it already, why not repeat it one more time?
@ChrisAndre6: What is the best atmosphere you have experienced in football?
Tzavellas: Although I have played at many German grounds and other stadiums abroad, I think that people in Greece create the best feeling and atmosphere.
@kosti_kostis: What is your biggest achievement to date as a footballer?
Tzavellas: So far, the game against Russia is the match that gave me the most positive feeling and made me very happy.
