Yann M'Vila is doubtful for UEFA EURO 2012 after sustaining an injury to his right ankle early in Les Bleus' 2-0 friendly win against Serbia in Reims on Thursday.
The Stade Rennais FC midfielder, who played eight times in qualifying, was helped from the pitch in tears in the sixth minute to be replaced by Alou Diarra, shortly after twisting his right ankle during a challenge. The 21-year-old left the stadium on crutches for tests before returning to the bench without them in the second half.
"We think that he will be fit for the first game [of UEFA EURO 2012]," said coach Laurent Blanc. "His participation in the tournament is not in question." However, France doctor Fabrice Bryand was more cautious, saying: "The ankle is not broken. It's reassuring. We, however, need 48 hours more to say if he will recover in time for EURO."
France play Estonia on 5 June before beginning their UEFA EURO 2012 campaign in Group D against England in Donetsk six days later.
