After the disappointment of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, France looked to rebuild their national team. The man charged with that responsibility, Laurent Blanc, successfully led them to first place in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group D as well as friendly wins against Germany, Brazil and England. They are now preparing to face England, Ukraine and Sweden in the finals with real hope of a third continental title.
One of the keys to their recovery has been 25-year-old goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, now one of the most experienced players and captain of a revamped squad. He spoke about France's hopes in the finals, and told UEFA.com: "It wasn't easy to start again after the World Cup and rebuild a team. Laurent Blanc and his staff managed to do it. We found some confidence through our results."
