Dick Advocaat will step down as Russia coach at the end of UEFA EURO 2012 after opting not to extend his contract.
"I am leaving after the European Championship," the 64-year-old told Russian newspaper Sport-Express. "I would not like to discuss the reasons but I can tell you it was not about the money. I am sure this news will not influence preparations for EURO 2012. We will give our all to put on a good performance out there."
Russian Football Union (RFS) president Sergei Fursenko echoed that sentiment, saying the federation "are confident it will not have a negative influence on Russia's performance at EURO". He added: "During negotiations with Dick Advocaat we gave him the chance to prolong his current contract after the European Championship. We respect his decision [to end his association]."
Former Netherlands, South Korea, PSV Eindhoven, Rangers FC and FC Zenit St Petersburg coach Advocaat succeeded compatriot Guus Hiddink at the Russia helm two years ago. He guided Russia to UEFA EURO 2012 as group winners, and they will face the Czech Republic, co-hosts Poland and Greece this summer.
