Ukraine goalkeeper Andriy Dykan appears destined to miss UEFA EURO 2012 after sustaining a serious head injury during FC Spartak Moskva's 2-1 loss to FC Zenit St Petersburg in the Russian Premier-Liga on Saturday.
The 34-year-old was injured in a collision with Zenit forward Aleksandr Kerzhakov and although he initially returned to the pitch after receiving medical attention, he had to be replaced 15 minutes later. Hospital tests showed he had suffered concussion and numerous fractures.
Capped eight times by Ukraine, Dykan was making his 32nd league appearance for Spartak this term and seemed certain to rival Olexandr Shovkovskiy for a place in the co-hosts' starting lineup at UEFA EURO 2012. Ukraine will play Sweden, France and England in Group D.
