Sweden look to finish the job in Finland

The Netherlands may have already booked their place at next summer's finals but will guarantee top spot in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group E as long as they avoid defeat at home to Moldova. Sweden, meanwhile, have their destiny in their owns and, despite being level on points with Hungary, will seal a play-off berth with victory against Finland in Helsinki courtesy of their superior head-to-head record.

There is mixed news for Bert van Marwijk, who welcomes Nigel de Jong and Rafael van der Vaart back from injury but cannot call on a number of regulars. Ibrahim Afellay misses out after sustaining cruciate knee ligament damage in training, as do Wesley Sneijder (groin), John Heitinga (knee) and Hedwiges Maduro (ankle), while Arjen Robben was a late withdrawal because of a long-standing pelvic problem.

No1 goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg was also named in the coach's original party but withdrew after failing to recover from a blow to his head sustained in a Serie A match. "Normally they would have been included, but it just was not possible, and that is a pity," said Van Marwijk. "The pressure on top players seems to increase. In the past they used to suffer from injury when they were over 30, now it often starts with 25."

Olof Mellberg returns from suspension while Samuel Holmén and Pierre Bengtsson are recalled after missing the cut last time. Oscar Wendt and Behrang Safari, who both were part of the squad that faced Hungary and San Marino in September, are omitted. "We've got two crucial matches ahead of us, it's going to be very exciting," said Erik Hamrén. "All matches are important. If we'd lost against Moldova and Finland in June, these two matches would have meant nothing but we get to finish with everything in our own hands."

Sándor Egervári has handed recalls to recovering injured duo Zoltán Gera and Balázs Dzsudzsák for their home encounter against Finland on 11 October. Hungary are bidding to complete their best international qualification campaign this century by sealing second place.

"Gera and Dzsudzsák are both building up their fitness after recent injuries and although they haven't played matches in recent weeks, they have participated in training sessions," said Egervári. "Both are very important to the team and so under the circumstances I decided to call them up. Even if they can't complete 90 minutes their help from the substitutes' bench could be invaluable."

Moldova coach Gavril Balint has recalled Semion Bulgaru to the squad for the first time since last October's defeat at the hands of Friday's opponents, the Netherlands. FC Lokomotiv Moskva midfielder Stanislav Ivanov is fit again to take his place while Artur Ioniţă, Gheorghe Andronic, Serghei Gheorghiev and Anatoli Cheptine will join up with the squad after playing against Russia in 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying. "We will try to finish our qualifying campaign in a decent way," said Balint. "We have to play a disciplined game defensively against the Netherlands and need a win against San Marino."
