Northern Ireland will look for a repeat of their 1-0 win in Maribor on 3 September but Slovenia will have other ideas when they visit Belfast with revenge in mind in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying Group C.
Match background
• A 70th-minute Corry Evans goal ensured Northern Ireland recorded their second win in three meetings with Slovenia as the teams got their qualifying campaigns under way, with their record now reading W2 D0 L1 (W1 D0 L0 at home).
• The teams met for the first time in a FIFA World Cup qualifier in Maribor on 11 October 2008 when Matjaž Kek's men beat Nigel Worthington's side 2-0 thanks to two strikes in the space of a minute from Milivoje Novakovič and Zlatan Ljubijankič during the closing stages.
• Revenge of a sort was exacted in Belfast on 1 April the following year as Warren Feeney hit the only goal for the hosts 17 minutes from time.
• The only encounters between club outfits from the respective nations ended with Slovenia's ND Gorica eliminating Linfield FC in the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League first qualifying round. Gorica won 3-1 in Belfast and drew 2-2 at home.
