With just over a year to go to UEFA EURO 2012, football supporters and fan groups in Poland and Ukraine are being invited to stage and promote events and activities in the two host countries as part of the Football Supporters Europe (FSE) network's Fans' Action 2011 programme.
Under the Fans' Action 2011 umbrella, FSE will offer financial support to outstanding transnational fan initiatives and projects promoting a positive football-supporting culture, including values such as international goodwill and fair play. The grants will cover activities organised by fans between May and December 2011 in Poland and/or Ukraine.
A major feature of FSE's wider work is the UEFA-backed Fans' Embassies Go East project. FSE – an independent union of European supporters and fan-related groups, initiatives and organisations addressing the interests of fans throughout the continent – is receiving financial backing from UEFA for activities both in the run-up to, and during UEFA EURO 2012, with strenuous efforts being put into the development of fan embassy services for fans travelling abroad to matches.
The particular focus for this year's Fans' Action programme, meanwhile, is joint activities involving supporters in Poland and Ukraine and/or supporters' events and actions taking place in Poland or Ukraine with partners from fan groups in other countries. Interested parties are being invited to tell FSE about planned activities in and around football stadiums and to complete and send the application form (available below) to FSE by 13 March at the latest.
FSE will choose the most interesting and challenging supporters' projects and initiatives, and can be contacted for assistance in planning and implementing such schemes.
The action is open to all Polish and Ukrainian fans, supporters, ultras, fan clubs, fan projects or fan initiatives that agree with the core principles of FSE. The activities have to be held in Poland and/or Ukraine. This can be a single event in or around stadiums or a series of actions in different cities in both countries. Activities have to be scheduled between 1 May and 31 December.
