Jerzy Stuhr, one of Poland's most popular and versatile actors, has joined his son Maciej in being unveiled as a Friend of UEFA EURO 2012.
Stuhr Sr, who also works as a screenwriter, film director and professor of drama, is known primarily for his acting career on television, stage and screen. "I am very happy to support the organising of such a big event as UEFA EURO 2012," the 63-year-old said.
Explaining his love of the game, he added: "I will never forget Poland v USSR in 1957 when Gerard Cieślik scored twice. I was a big fan of KS Polonia Bytom and Wisła Kraków. They had players I know personally: Kazimierz Kmiecik and Adam Musiał. When I was flying regularly to Rome for work, I often met Zbigniew Boniek and once bought an AS Roma shirt for my son."
Maciej Stuhr had been nominated as one of Poland's Friends of EURO in December.
