The UEFA EURO 2012 mascots enjoyed an action-packed trip to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Sunday as their tour of the tournament host cities reached its last stop in the country.

The unnamed twin mascots began their visit at the 2010 Kyiv Open dance sport contest hosted by the National University of Sports and Physical Culture. Afterwards, the duo were paraded through the streets of the city centre on a float nicknamed the 'mascotmobile', before stopping off at the Kyiv Passage for a photo session with locals and guests.

Children came out in force to meet the UEFA EURO 2012 mascots in the main street of Khreschatyk and many more were entertained by the pair when they joined forces with performers at the city's circus later in the day. On Monday, the mascots will return to Khreschatyk for more photo sessions and later attend an orphanage for children with special needs.

"The mascots symbolise the unity of the two countries, Ukraine and Poland," said the deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Anatoliy Golubchenko. "I have no doubt these handsome boys will become real advertisements for our nations, while the tournament will make the whole of Europe open its eyes to the new-look, fast-developing capital of Ukraine. I believe every citizen of Kyiv and Ukraine is proud that the main event of UEFA EURO 2012 – the final – will be played in our city's stadium."

The mascots will head for Poland on Monday with Gdansk their first destination before the tour of host cities ends in Warsaw on 4 December, when their names will be announced.
