President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, was among the honoured guests at the official opening ceremony of the new Terminal F at Kyiv's Boryspil International Airport which will handle visitors for UEFA EURO 2012.
The new terminal has an area of 20,500m² and will be operation from 1 October, handling 40-50% of the airport's flights, having been built at a cost of €30m. "I came here to congratulate you on this fantastic event," the president said. "First of all I want to thank the construction team who have done a great job and shown the high professional standard of Ukrainian specialists. Ukraine deserves to have such a beautiful international entrance. And this terminal is only the first step in the process of airport modernisation."
The modernisation programme will continue with the construction of the 100,000m² Terminal D. "The new terminals will make Boryspil Airport one of the most comfortable and modern in the world," Yanukovych said. "I hope we will be proud of what we will have done in the coming years, and that all of this will be of use for future generations of Ukrainian people. The new terminal's modern infrastructure will provide our citizens and visitors to our country with a very good service."
