'Quality' player
Barzagli will move to the 2008/09 UEFA Cup contenders after four seasons in Sicily for a reported fee of €10m. The 27-year-old centre-back, who has been capped 23 times by his national side, signed the deal on the eve of the Azzurri's UEFA EURO 2008™ Group C match against Romania. Wolfsburg coach Felix Magath said: "We are happy that a player of his quality has transferred to Wolfsburg and he is looking forward to our participation in the UEFA Cup." Barzagli becomes the second Italian international to move from Palermo to Wolfsburg this summer after Cristian Zaccardo.
