Comfortable success
A crowd of 5,000 saw an Austria side composed of locally-based players take the game to their Carinthian opponents in the first half with goals from captain Christian Fuchs (8), Stefan Maierhofer (27) and Ümit Korkmaz (40) giving them a 3-0 lead at half-time. Coach Josef Hickersberger made six substitutions at the interval, with Ivica Vastic, Christian Gratzei and the ailing Marc Janko the only players not used. Christoph Leitgeb (50) then made it 4-0 before Erwin Hoffer scored in the 63rd and 70th minutes to seal a comprehensive win.
