De Guzman in line for Netherlands debut

Marco van Basten has included uncapped Feyenoord midfielder Jonathan De Guzman in his Netherlands squad for the friendly against UEFA EURO 2008™ co-hosts Austria.

New passport
The 20-year-old was born in Toronto, Canada but has been with the Rotterdam club since the age of 12 and was given his Dutch passport last month. De Guzman, whose older brother Julian plays for RC Deportivo La Coruña in the Primera División and is a Canadian international, has scored 19 goals in 87 Eredivisie appearances and is delighted to have received the call for the match at the Ernst Happel-Stadion.

'Huge honour'
"I have been looking forward to this," he said. "I have been in the Netherlands since 2000 and already I feel very close to this country. I am available for the national team and consider it as a huge honour." The final squad will be made on 21 March. The Netherlands will take on Italy, France and Romania in Group C at this summer's tournament.
