Rubén De la Red has been rewarded for his performances with UEFA Cup quarter-finalists Getafe CF, with a maiden call-up to the Spain squad for Wednesday's friendly against Italy in Elche.

Uncapped trio
The 22-year-old midfielder has been a key figure in Getafe's march to the last eight of the UEFA Cup in their debut campaign in Europe as well as helping secure the club's second Copa del Rey final appearance in successive seasons. De la Red is not the only uncapped player in Luis Aragonés' party, as Liverpool FC right-back Álvaro Arbeloa and RCD Mallorca defender Fernando Navarro have also included having missed last month's 1-0 defeat of France. The pair were both originally called up by Aragonés but injury prevented Arbeloa, 25, from making his debut, while Navarro did not make it on to the pitch.

Bojan wait
FC Barcelona forward Bojan Krkić will have to wait for his senior debut, however, having been selected for the Under-21's match against Kazakhstan a day earlier.  Bojan was included in the squad for the France friendly but dropped out due to illness.

Watching brief
"There are injuries, players low in form and I have a list of 30 or 40 players to choose from and Raúl Tamudo for example hasn't been picked because he’s just recovered from an injury [broken arm]," said Aragonés. "This list doesn't have to be the final one before EURO – I have named my squad and a lot of these players will be in the final one as long as they are fit but we are watching young players."
