Jensen grasps Estonian nettle

Experienced Dane Viggo Jensen has been named as the new coach of the Estonian national team as they seek their first UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifying point.

Long-term plan
The 59-year-old takes up the reins three weeks after the resignation of Dutch coach Jelle Goes and has signed a six-month contract. However, Estonian Football Association (EJL) president Aivar Pohlak said: "Although we signed a six-month deal, we are looking forward to a much longer co-operation."

Denmark role
Jensen has worked with a number of clubs in Denmark and Sweden, and was one of Richard Møller-Nielsen's assistants during Denmark's EURO '92 success. He joins the EJL after stepping down as head of scouting and development at Danish side Esbjerg fB having been dismissed from his last coaching job at Silkeborg IF in October.

'All about results'
"It is an interesting challenge," said Jensen. "However, there's only a month until the next UEFA EURO 2008™ qualifier and in the end it is all about results. I have to get to know the players quickly and talk to them privately, as we will only be together for a couple of days before the game against Andorra." Estonia have yet to score a goal or pick up a point in Group E, having lost all seven of their qualifiers to date.
