Aberdeen chosen
The Scottish Football Association confirmed today that the friendly would be played on 22 August at Pittodrie Stadium, the home of Aberdeen FC where manager Alex McLeish made his name as a defender. There is also an agreement for a return fixture in advance of the next World Cup, but first Scotland will hope they can reach next summer’s UEFA European Championship. They are third in Group B, a point behind Italy and two adrift of leaders France. All three teams have five fixtures remaining in which to secure a top-two finish. Scotland's next qualifier is at home to Lithuania on 8 September before travelling to France for a key contest four days later.
