'A good person'
Várhidi is currently in charge of the Hungarian Under-19 team, who are in action at a UEFA European Under-19 Championship mini-tournament in Cyprus. He previously won the Hungarian title as coach of Újpest FC in 1997/98. "He is a young, motivated coach who has done a good job with the national team," said Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ) president István Kisteleki. "I am sure that he is a good person to lead the national team against Canada in mid-November.
Várhidi honoured
"It is an honour for any coach to be named as the head coach of the national team so I couldn't say no when the president asked me," added the 48-year-old Várhidi. "I'm concentrating on the U19 side's results at the moment but I already know that I would like to mix talents from the new generation with the experienced players."
