Surprise call
The FC Barcelona striker has only just returned to first-team training with his club after recovering from a left knee injury but has been included in Eyjólfur Sverrisson's side for the back-to-back home games against the sides placed third and first in Group F. "Eidur Gudjohnsen has begun to train with Barcelona so it looks good," said Sverrisson. "It is not clear if he will be able to play but the second game against Northern Ireland is two weeks away so there is a chance." Ármann Björnsson and Ólafur Skúlason return to the squad while there are first appearances for Ásgeir Ásgeirsson and Sverrir Gardarsson, both of whom play for current Icelandic league leaders FH Hafnarfjördur.
