Van der Vaart scores
Dutch coach Dick Advocaat started with strikers Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Patrick Kluivert up front for the first time since last November, with Rafael van der Vaart in support. It took half an hour to open the scoring, Van der Vaart shooting in from long range.
Makaay doubles lead
Advocaat, whose side lost 1-0 to Belgium in Eindhoven on Saturday, made ten changes at the break, only Michael Reiziger re-emerging. Marc Overmars and Andy van der Meyde played on the wing, and the former took six minutes to make a goal, crossing for Roy Makaay to score.
Overmars adds a goal
Overmars claimed the third himself, his shot deflecting in. There was to be no more scoring but Advocaat was happy with the run-out. "It was a useful practice match," he said. "Normally we do not train for more then an hour an a match day. We did not play too well, but that is not something I expect at this moment."
Irish test
The squad return from Switzerland on Friday and meet the Republic of Ireland the following day. They begin their UEFA EURO 2004™ campaign against Group D rivals Germany on 15 June in Porto.
