Duo train
Robben has been troubled with a hamstring injury for many months, but came through morning training unscathed to complete a second session later today. Meanwhile, Van der Meyde left the early session prematurely holding his hamstring, but after treatment was practising with the squad this evening.
'Nothing serious'
"It was nothing serious, just a little tension I felt," Van der Meyde said. "I just do not want to take any risk, certainly now the coach decides to play with wingers again, because that increases my chances of playing."
Seedorf worry
Edgar Davids and Marc Overmars also trained this evening after resting earlier, but Michael Reiziger and Rafael van der Vaart skipped the session due to minor injuries having trained this morning. Only Clarence Seedorf did not train at all today due to his hamstring problem.
Winger favoured
Meanwhile coach Dick Advocaat confirmed that he will be playing a 4-3-3 system utilising wingers after a meeting with four senior players earlier today. He will therefore be particularly relieved at the swift recovery of Van der Meyde.
System confirmed
"I think this team functions best with wing attackers," Advocaat said. "During the friendly campaign I also tried other things, but playing with two central strikers did not work out so well. But that is not so bad, that is what those matches are for."
