Wide boys excite Tomasson

Jon Dahl Tomasson told euro2004.com he is intrigued to see how Italy cope with Denmark's wingers.

Nesta meeting
Tomasson is one of four players in Morten Olsen's squad to ply his trade in Serie A and on Monday will come up against his AC Milan team-mate Alessandro Nesta, a contest which could decide who makes the early running in Group C. "I don't expect to get much room as I don't think the Italians will push forward to put us under pressure as an attacking game is not their style," said the 27-year-old.

Problem to solve
Even accounting for the likely of absence of Jesper Grønkjær following the death of his mother, Denmark still boast two speedy and tricky wide men in Dennis Rommedahl and Marin Jørgensen, both of whom will test the Azzurri's preferred full-back pairing of Christian Panucci and Gianluca Zambrotta. "The Italians are not used to playing against teams with two wingers like we do and I'm sure we will cause them trouble," Tomasson said. "I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll solve that problem."

'Hungry for victory'
The prospect of facing his team-mates from the San Siro does not add any extra spice to the occasion for Tomasson, however, who said: "I'm really looking forward to the game but the fact that I'll be up against some of my colleagues from Italy does not make the game more special for me - none of us can wait to get started. Italy will be tough opponents and I regard them as a side hungry for victory who can go all the way."

Two sessions
The Danes scheduled two short training sessions for today, both closed to the media and the public. "This morning's session consisted of about 30 minutes on set-pieces, in the afternoon we'll continue with tactical training simply because we don't want to be out in the heat for too long," said assistant coach Keld Bordingaard.
